The Ten-cent Prexie

Private Aerogramme

Air letters became available on April 1, 1947. They could not contain any enclosures. The rate to all countries was ten cents until July 1, 1961. Privately manufactured ones required Post Office approval.

Life Magazine mailed this aerogramme on October 7, 1948 to a subscriber in Israel, apologizing for an interruption in service, undoubtedly due to the war in progress.
