The Ten-cent Prexie
Fourth class book rate with third class enclosure
From January 1, 1949 to August 1, 1958 the special fourth class book rate cost eight cents for a package weighting more than eight ounces but no more than a pound. During the same period standard third class postage was two cents up to and including two ounces.
This parcel, weighing less than one pound, was sent at the fourth class book rate sometime in the early 1950's. Since it included additional third class material, two cents postage was added for that.
