The Eleven-cent Prexie
Third class material for planting
From April 15, 1925 to January 1, 1949 the postage for material for planting was one cent per two ounces. This tag, postmarked September 29, 1945 would have been used to send between twenty-one and twenty-two ounces of planting material.
Later, from June 1, 1952 until August 1, 1958 the third class rate for material for planting was two cents for the first two ounces and one-and-one-half cents for each additional two ounces. A shipment weighing over 12 ounces, up to 14 ounces, would cost eleven cents.
