The rate for a third class mailing was two cents for the first two ounces from January 1, 1949 to August 1, 1958. Insurance was fifteen cents for indemnity from $10.01 to $25.00 from January 1, 1949 until January 2, 1957.
This insured cover was sent in 1956. It is not likely that it weighed six to seven ounces, but it would have been insured for $5.01 to $10.00 if that had been the case. More likely it weighed two ounces or less and was insured for $10.01 to $25.00.
