The rate for a non-local first class letter was three cents from July 6, 1932 until August 1, 1958, and the minimum fee for registry was fifteen cents from April 15, 1925 to March 26, 1944. Thus, from July 6, 1932 until March 26, 1944 the cost of a registered first-class letter was eighteen cents.

This cover was sent registered mail within Iowa in 1939.

The surface rate was the same to all territories and possessions as for domestic mail. This cover was sent registered surface mail to Manila in June of 1940.

The surface rate from possessions and territories to the mainland was the same as the domestic rate as well. This cover was sent registered from Waialua, Hawaii in April of 1941.

Registered mail sent to a serviceman in 1943 and returned for a better address.
