The Twenty-one-cent Prexie
Insured third class use
Third class postage was two cents for the first two ounces or less, plus one cent for each ounce above that from January 1, 1949 until August 1, 1958. Insurance for $10.01 to $25 indemnity was fifteen cents from January 1, 1949 until July 1, 1957. The only logical combination of postage and insurance fee for this 1956 cover would be six cents postage for contents weighing between five and six ounces, plus fifteen cents insurance for $10.01 to $25.
