This cover was sent registered, return receipt requested, in January of 1940.
The same rates applied to mail sent via surface to or from territories and possesions. This cover was sent registered, return receipt requested from Hawaii on December 9, 1941. It was received in Vancouver, Washington on January 24, 1942.
This cover was sent to Canada, registered, return receipt requested, in July of 1942. The postage and the registry fee were the same as for a domestic letter, but the return receipt should have been charged five cents, not three, leaving it two cents underpaid.
