Airmail to the Guianas

Thirty cents was the airmail postage to French Guiana, British Guiana (Guyana) and Dutch Guiana (Surinam or Suriname) from January 1, 1930 until April 1, 1945.

This cover was sent from New York to Surinam in 1943.

Civilian contractors did not get the military concession rate until October 21, 1942. This cover was sent from Guyana through APO 857, Atkinson Field, Georgetown at the full airmail rate in June of 1942.

A cover to Cayenne, French Guiana, sent during the middle of the Second World War, and returned to sender with no apparent reason given.
