A postcard sent to Sarawak in 1956 to confirm short wave radio reception.

Surface postcard rates were the same for active duty military personnel as if the mailing had been done from the states. This card was sent from APO 172, located in Germany, to France in 1954.

Since UPU rules required stamps on international mail, the Treasury Department had to add a four-cent stamp when sending a penalty postcard to South Africa in 1958. By this time the four-cent Liberty stamp had been in use for more than three years.
