On October 1, 1946 airmail rates for territories and possesions became the same as for the mainland.

This postcard was sent airmail from Puerto Rico to the mainland in 1947. Postcards did not receive their own airmail rates until January 1, 1949.

During the five-cent air mail rate period the military concession rate was lowered to five cents as well. This letter was sent by air to New York from the Air Transport Command of the Headquarters of the European Theater in France in 1946.
