The Six-cent Prexie

Contractor air mail rate use

The special six-cent air mail rate granted to members of the U.S. Armed Forces serving outside the continental United States was extended to contractors and civilian employees of the military, effective from November 23, 1942 through September 30, 1946. The rate was effective only if the civilian indicated the APO number in their return address.

This cover was sent by a representative of Standard Oil Company at the Headquarters of the U.S. Army Forces in the Middle East, Cairo, in 1944.
